THREE ISLANDS PRESS END USER LICENSE AGREEMENTThis is a legal agreement between Three Islands Press (3IP) and any purchaser (The Licensee) of any 3IP font(s) regarding use of the associated digital type outlines (The Software).Upon full payment of the agreed-upon fee, 3IP grants The Licensee a non-exclusive license for use of The Software, provided The Licensee agrees to these terms:1. The Licensee may install and use The Software on up to five (5) CPUs (e.g., computers) at one location; installation on more than five such devices, or in more than one location, will require an additional license fee or fees.2. The Licensee, its agents, and/or partners may not disassemble or modify The Software in any way, nor convert The Software for use on another platform, except by express permission of 3IP.6. The Licensee, its agents, and/or partners may not embed The Software in any materials not intended for The Licensee's own use, except where such materials permit only viewing and printing??not editing, altering, enhancing, modifying, or extracting The Software for subsequent use.7. The Licensee, its agents, and/or partners may not sub-license The Software.8. The Software is owned by and is the intellectual property of 3IP, and its worldwide trademarks belong to 3IP; furthermore, The Licensee agrees to credit 3IP as the trademark and copyright owner of The Software wherever and whenever design, production, and/or other credits are shown or listed, e.g.: Lamar Pen? In no way is 3IP liable for any computer trouble, property damage, personal injury, or loss of income or profits as a result of the use of The Software.10. 20th Century was designed and drawn by Sol Hess in the Lanston Monotype drawing office between 1936 and 1947. The first weights were added to the Monotype typeface library in 1959. This is a face based on geometric shapes which originated in Germany in the early 1920's and became an integral part of the Bauhaus movement of that time. Form and function became the key words, unnecessary decoration was scorned. This clean cut, sans serif with geometric shapes was most appropriate. The lighter weights can be used for text setting, the bold and condensed fonts are suitable for display in headlines and advertising.

Prof. Axel Bertram, a German graphic designer, began the development of the Rabenau typeface family during the mid-1990s. A variety of hand-lettered alphabets, which Prof. Bertram has previously designed for a number of practical applications, formed the basis for the design of Rabenau's reduced, clear, functional, and emotionally appealing characters. These included: book covers, lettering for newspapers, and magazines, and even fonts for typewriters and television screens. Rabenau is a counterpoint to contemporary typefaces, which often run quite narrow. Its design has proven itself as a solution of the setting of immersive texts, in part because of its large x-height. The moderate stroke contrast helps contribute to a balanced gray in pages of text. The Rabenau typeface's letters, which exhibit a tension between individuality and similarity, fluctuate between baroque and neoclassical styles. A vertical axis, with gently-curved bracketing, and bar-shaped serifs with slight rounding, are further contributions to design's features. Also worthy of mention are the gently swinging arcs of the letters' curves and stems, as well as the open lower counter form in the lowercase g a trait Rabenau shares with Baskerville's typefaces.The letterforms in the Rabenau typeface combine formal rigor with grace and legibility. Before the typeface was released, it was already used extensively and successfully in several book projects. Beginning in 2003, Prof. Bertram worked closely with the calligrapher and type designer Andreas Frohloff, a collaboration that helped expand Rabenau into a 16 weight family.

Third partiesYou may provide the font to a graphic designer, printer or other service bureau that is working on your behalf only if they agree to use the font exclusively for your work, agree to the terms of this license, and retain no copies of the font on completion of the work.You may not provide the font or make it accessible to any other third parties.4. EmbeddingYou may embed the licensed fonts into any document you send to third parties provided such embedding is restricted to viewing and printing that document.You may not embed the licensed fonts into software or hardware products in which the fonts will be used by the purchasers of such products. Such use requires a different license (OEM). Please contact g@wiescher-design.de for information on OEM licenses.5. ModificationsYou may import characters from the font as graphical objects into a drawing program and modify such graphical objects.You may not modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works based on the licensed font itself without Wiescher-Design' prior written consent.6. CopyrightThe font and the accompanying materials are copyrighted and contain proprietary information and trade secrets belonging to the foundry owning the font. Unauthorized copying of the Product even if modified, merged, or included with other software, or of the written materials, is expressly forbidden. You may be held legally responsible for any infringement of the foundrys intellectual property rights that is caused or encouraged by your failure to abide by the terms of this Agreement.7. TerminationThis Agreement is effective until terminated. This Agreement will terminate automatically without notice from Wiescher-Design if you fail to comply with any provision contained herein. Upon termination, you must destroy the written materials, the Product, and all copies of them, in part and in whole, including modified copies, if any.8. Product UpgradesWiescher-Design may, from time to time, update the Product. Product upgrade pricing may apply.9. Disclaimer and Limited WarrantyWiescher-Design warrants the Product to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of twenty one (21) days from the date of delivery as shown on your receipt. Wiescher-Design' entire liability and your exclusive remedy as to a defective product shall be, at Wiescher-Design' option, either return of purchase price or replacement of any such product that is returned to Wiescher-Design with a copy of the invoice. Wiescher-Design shall have no responsibility to replace the product or refund the purchase price if failure results from accident, abuse or misapplication, or if any product is lost or damaged due to theft, fire, or negligence. Any replacement product will be warranted for twenty one (21) days. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights, which vary from state to state.EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED ABOVE, THE PRODUCT, IS PROVIDED AS IS. WIESCHER-DESIGN DOES NOT MAKE ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the Product rests upon you. Wiescher-Design does not warrant that the functions contained in the Product will meet your requirements or that the operation of the software will be uninterrupted or error free.WIESCHER-DESIGN SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING DAMAGES FROM LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCT EVEN IF WIESCHER-DESIGN HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.Because some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.10. Governing LawThis agreement is governed by the laws of Germany.
