Monastic is also in Solo's The Solotype Catalog of 4,147 Display Typefaces.Thanks to Poukha (poukha*gmail*com) for the scan of Monastic, and to Claude for the images of numerals and some cyrillic characters.The alphabets are based on Poukha's scan. Since the Victorian Display Alphabets specimen sheet does not include numerals, some of the numerals were taken from the MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan 1892 specimen book and others from the image Cluade posted in alt.binaries.fonts. The few cyrillic characters in the font are also based on an image from Claude.The font contains alternate characters for lowercase/small caps a, m and r. 20th Century was designed and drawn by Sol Hess in the Lanston Monotype drawing office between 1936 and 1947. The first weights were added to the Monotype typeface library in 1959. This is a face based on geometric shapes which originated in Germany in the early 1920's and became an integral part of the Bauhaus movement of that time. Form and function became the key words, unnecessary decoration was scorned. This clean cut, sans serif with geometric shapes was most appropriate. The lighter weights can be used for text setting, the bold and condensed fonts are suitable for display in headlines and advertising.

For a period of 90 days after delivery, Nick's Fonts warrants that the font data will perform in accordance with the specifications published by Nick's Fonts. NICK'S FONTS MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND MERCHANTABILITY ARE SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED. NICK'S FONTS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FONT DATA IS FREE FROM ALL ERRORS AND OMISSIONS. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights, which vary from state to state.
