This font was digitized in 1990 by David Rakowski and published as shareware. I have no idea as to whether he also designed it or scanned one of the solotype catalogue samples. Dragonwick 1990 contained no characters with diacritical marks and only limited punctuation. In 2002, I added most of these and also changed a few characters, compare T and s to the original that is still around everywhere. The most significant changes were made to the F which I re-created, since the original F would not be recognisable easily in my country. You still find the orginal as the florin character (#131). Almost 90 kerning pairs were added to relieve the worst spacing problems.For the Fontgrube relaunch 2013 I made a slight revision, added missing kern pairs and adjusted the guillemets to fit the size of the lowercase characters.

Usage: freeware. Please read the original shareware notice in the readme file.Distribution: You may share this font or offer for download as long as you pass it on together with its readme file.You are not allowed to make the use of a particular download manager software obligatory in order to download the font from your web site. Ahmed is a modern Arabic headline face, first produced by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the early 1980s. Originally developed as a simplified face, its design recalls the inscriptional and decorative tile work lettering of the medieval period. The strong treatment of the tails of certain characters departs from the more traditional style of tapering these finials, introducing a modern feel to the design. The contrasting proportions of the tall vertical strokes and the rather elongated counters lend a monumental look to Ahmed, allowing its effective use in titling. During the later 1980s Ahmed was developed into a traditional typeface, with the introduction of medial forms to improve character spacing and balance. Recently, Ahmed has been converted into the OpenType font format, ensuring its continued popularity as a heading face for newspaper typesetting. The Ahmed typeface contains two weights, Ahmed and Ahmed Outline. The first cuts of Trade Gothic were designed by Jackson Burke in 1948. He continued to work on further weights and styles until 1960 while he was director of type development for Mergenthaler-Linotype in the USA. Trade Gothic does not display as much unifying family structure as other popular sans serif font families, but this dissonance adds a bit of earthy naturalism to its appeal. Trade Gothic is often seen in advertising and multimedia in combination with roman text fonts, and the condensed versions are popular in the newspaper industry for headlines.
