Commissioned by first Chief Executive of London Transport Frank Pick to create a typeface belonging unmistakably to the twentieth century, Johnston's design was intended to be distinctly legible and, most importantly, functional. The true testament to Johnston's legacy of design is its continued modern usage and the scores of imitations which developed from Johnston's work. Johnston's original typeface became the model and inspiration for such modern sans-serif typefaces as Futura and Gill Sans. This remarkable typeface first appeared in 1932 in The Times of London newspaper, for which it was designed. It has subsequently become one of the worlds most successful type creations. The original drawings were made under Stanley Morison's direction by Victor Lardent at The Times. It then went through an extensive iterative process involving further work in Monotype's Type Drawing Office. Based on experiments Morison had conducted using Perpetua and Plantin, it has many old style characteristics but was adapted to give excellent legibility coupled with good economy. Widely used in books and magazines, for reports, office documents and also for display and advertising.

You agree to inform any person (employee/co-employee/employer) having access to the P22 Software and copies thereof, of the terms and conditions of this Standard License Agreement and to ensure that these terms and conditions are abided. You agree to indemnify and hold P22 harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, and costs including attorney's fees, arising out of your breach of this agreement or promises you made. If these terms are not agreed to and respected P22 reserves the right to revoke Grant of License.9. Construction. This agreement is governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. All disputes between P22 and the end user whether or not arising hereunder shall be conducted within the courts and jurisdiction of Erie County, New York.Please register your fonts. This Agreement will immediately and automatically terminate without notice if you fail to comply with any term or condition of this Agreement. If this Agreement is terminated, you agree to destroy all copies of the font data in your possession. DISCLAIMER AND LIMITED WARRANTY. For a period of 90 days after delivery, Nick's Fonts warrants that the font data will perform in accordance with the specifications published by Nick's Fonts. NICK'S FONTS MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE WARRANTIES OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND MERCHANTABILITY ARE SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED. NICK'S FONTS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE FONT DATA IS FREE FROM ALL ERRORS AND OMISSIONS. This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may have other rights, which vary from state to state. NICK'S FONTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING DAMAGES FROM LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, AND THE LIKE) ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE NICK'S FONTS FONT DATA.
