A typeface family inspired by both industrial type designs such as DIN and Isonorm, and typefaces with organic curves such as Cooper Black. One skeleton, two families: robust and rigid sanserif Akko, the soft and friendly Akko Rounded and Akko Condensed. Each family has six weights (Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold and Black). Italics are available throughout the family. The initial idea was to create a sanserif type with a soft-focus effect. With rounded corners the overall look has a friendly touch, although its skeleton has a hint of German Textura type. Characteristics: 1. simple and compact letterform. Especially the capital letters are space-saving. 2. subtly curved diagonal strokes on A,V, K, v, y, etc. so that the junction creates less dark spot. 3. extra ligatures such as c-t and s-t for adding historical touch. Also for the German language the c-h, c-k and the s-c-h ligatures have been reintroduced. It makes sense in contemporary usage where space is crutial. 4. soft-focused but clear and legible letterforms. A clear distinction between the cap 'I', the figure '1' and the lowercase 'l', and the 'O' and the 'zero'. 5. lining and oldstyle figures are available.

Arabic Typesetting is a new design in the Naskh style, particularly well suited for traditional book typography, an area neglected by digital type. The font provides fine typographic control by marrying the latest OpenType technology to traditional calligraphic and typographic models. It achieves maximum readability by opening bowls and counters, balancing the proportions of stroke and white space in letters that typically cause problems at small sizes, and by contextually differentiating similar forms. The font contains over 2,100 glyphs, including contextual alternates, ligatures, and language-specific forms.Great care was taken in the design and digitization of all outlines. The graceful curves, the dynamic of blunt and rounded terminals, and the contrast between thick and thin strokes are consistent and lively throughout the typeface. In addition to providing all the correct shapes for quality Arabic typesetting, the same care and consistency has been applied in glyphs used for the many other languages, such as Farsi, Urdu, Sindhi, etc., that are written in variants of the Arabic script. This means that documents incorporating several language will have a harmonious appearance.The Arabic glyphs are accompanied by Latin letters designed to achieve a balance of color, weight and proportion between the two scripts. Typically, the trend in co-ordinating Arabic and Latin types has been to unhappily force the Arabic to match the proportions of the Latin. In this font, likely for the first time, the Latin has been adjusted to harmonize with the Arabic: the ascenders and descenders have been lengthened to echo the proportions of the Arabic extenders, and the usual impact of capital letters has been reduced by making them a similar weight to the lowercase.

P22 End User License Agreement and Limited WarrantyThank you for purchasing P22 fonts. To ensure that P22 continues to bring you more exciting, historically relevant type, please take the time to read this agreement. It might not be the most fascinating read, but its very important and may answer many questions that you may have. Please register your fonts and remember that free software is an exception, not the rule. 1. Notice to user. You (End User) have not purchased the ownership rights to this font, but rather a license to use this font on a limited basis. Purchasing a license for any P22 font or font distributed by P22 (International House of Fonts, Sherwood Collection and other) via download, or e-mail, constitutes an agreement between P22 type foundry, Inc (P22) and the end user of the enclosed typefaces (software) that the terms and conditions of this contract will be followed. If the fonts are purchased in hard copy format (CD-ROM or floppy disk), removing the media from its protective sleeve (paper pouch, DVD cases, or other) in which the media is contained constitutes the same agreement. The basic P22 distributed software license is limited for use on a total of 5 devices at one site for use on a single platform. A device is defined as a computer, printer, character generator, server or any other machine that uses font data to rasterize letterforms. A site is defined as one physical location. Platform refers to operating systems designated as 'Macintosh', 'Windows' or other. A laptop may be one of the devices in the basic license of 5 devices as long as the laptop is associated primarily with the licensed location. Simply working offsite on a laptop is permissible in the basic license and is regarded as an extension of the site. Work transported from one distinct network to another distinct network, via a laptop requires each network to be licensed properly.Additional licensing is also required if you are installing the font(s) on more than 5 devices (Site License), or a LAN/WAN Server with more than 4 devices, or, if you and/or additional users will have access to the font(s) at more than one location (Corporate License), or, if your printer/service bureau is installing the fonts for job output for more than one-time use (Service Bureau). Most alphanumeric fonts are allowable without additional licensing provided that the Grant of License guidelines are met. However, the use of illustrative elements (also known as dingbats, extras, ornaments) within logo design requires an additional one-time license.
