Felix Bonge made the first sketches of Levato during his studies at Professor Veljovic's typographic course in Hamburg. Large point sizes as used for posters or headlines, have different needs than type for textsetting. Levato was designed to be used in big sizes. A strong contrast between thick and thin strokes, a small x-height, rather narrow proportions and tight spacing define Levato's character. 5 weights from light to black plus their corresponding italics, many OpenType features like small caps, ligatures, swash characters and different sets of figures allow a wide range of usage, e. g. classical book titles or playful magazine layouts.

Gabriele was the name of his granddaughter. In 1957 Max Grundig, German industrialist, bought the two companies Triumph and Adler and merged them into his office machine label 'Triumph Adler'. Thus, 'Gabriele' became the name of a popular series of typewriters in postwar Germany. We have chosen this name for our series of typewriter fonts in reminiscence of those machines and all the ladies (called Gabriele or not) that used to type on them from the 1950s to the '80s.The Ribbon members of the Gabriele are based on the Dave-Rakowski font Harting. You can see the texture of the ribbon in each letter. There is a darker companion font Gabriele Dark Ribbon FG. This is a monospaced font. The characters have all the same width - with the exception of the ellipsis character (...) which is of course three spaces wide. Naturally, these fonts have and need no kerning.

Following Generis, Aeonis is Erik Faulhaber's second large type family. Lapidary inscriptions from Ancient Greece supured Faulhaber on to create this typeface?s basic sans serif forms. This clarity is visible in the simplified form of the typeface's capital A. Further inspiration came from a domed lamp designed in 1952 by Wilhelm Wagonfeld; this went on to inspire the roundness in Aeonis. Faulhaber sees the conflict between antiquity and modernity as a struggle between angular and round forms; Aeonis reconciles these trends. By removing spurs at the stems of the lowercase letters, Aeonis reduces the alphabet to its most basic movements; and in order to further strengthen reading speed, all of the unnecessary horizontal elements lave been left out of the lowercase letters and numbers, too. Aeonis is available in three widths and seven weights. Its open letterforms ensure legibility at small sizes. Aeonis works both in complex text layouts and simple logos. As was the case in the Generis family, all of the numbers, currency symbols, mathematical signs, and punctuation marks in the Aeonis fonts have a coordinated system of widths, ensuring their suitability for tables and financial reports. All of its members of the Aeonis family may easily be used with each other; their design combines a contemporary character with sophisticated typography.
